Creation flows 2021 from the Central del Circ

Annual call from La Central del Circ dividing up the stays and residencies it offers into several modes or creative flows around two main areas.

The projects selected may have their stay or residency between February and December 2021. Dates will be set with the companies according to availability of the venues.

Artistic discipline

Circus

Research flows: categories

En origen: Essential research

Format of stays aimed at professional circus artists, individuals or duos, who wish to commit to a research process or to take a break, while presenting existing shows, and find inspiration for research.

 

One proposal will be selected out of all those entered for this category.

 

It is aimed at:

Individual or duo, national or international contemporary circus artists.

 

Award and benefits:

  • Creation room from 4 to 8 weeks (in 3 or more research periods)
  • A minimum grant of 1,000 euros to cover travel costs  and expenses
  • Artistic support from La Central del Circ

 

 

En origen: Dynamic residency

As part of the “En origen” research flow, dynamic residencies are understood as a space for experimenting, shaking up, bringing dynamism to and sharing research and comparative discussion around a subject, with a non-circus art or discipline taking part.

 

Three proposals will be selected out of all those entered for this category.

 

It is aimed at:

National or international circus artists or companies.

 

Award and benefits:

  • Creation room for 2 weeks
  • A minimum grant of 700 euros to cover travel costs and expenses that the company or artist may have during the residency

Creation flows: Categories

“En estudi” and “En fabricació” residencies

The “En estudi” residencies are designed for circus artists, groups or companies that are all committed to and begin creating a new project.

The idea is to reach a short 20-minute form or model.

 

En fabricació” residencies are designed for companies that already have a definite project and are finishing the creation of a piece lasting more than 20 minutes

 

Up to eight proposals will be selected in the framework of this call, out of all those entered for the “En estudi” or “En fabricació” categories.

 

It is aimed at:

Catalan or Spanish companies, although companies from around Europe may enter for it too.

 

Award and benefits:

  • Creation room from 3 to 6 weeks (non-consecutive)
  • A minimum grant of 900 euros to cover travel costs and expenses
  • Artistic support and advice on production/procurement from La Central del Circ.

 

 

Structural residency

This new creation flow category is being introduced to meet a need, that of defining a direction or providing a dramaturgic focus for pieces in creation.

 

Up to two proposals will be selected out of all those entered for this category.

 

It is aimed at:

National or international professional contemporary circus artists or companies.

 

The award and other benefits

  • Creation room for 2 weeks
  • A minimum grant of 500 euros to cover travel costs and expenses that the company or artist may have during the residency
  • A dramaturgy grant of 500 euros, to cover the fees of an external teacher for providing dramaturgic support.
  • Artistic support from La Central del Circ.

 

 

“T.E.S.T.!” residency (Technical Sensation Stage Flow)

This category makes resources available to the selected artistic team's stage design room, with the aim of giving the piece a first opportunity for staging.

 

One proposal will be selected out of all those responding to this call.

 

The residency must be carried out during the two weeks prior to the exhibition (19 February, 23 April, 30 April, 11 June, 18 June or 29 October)

 

It is aimed at:

Professional circus companies, preferably Catalan or Spanish companies, although companies from around Europe may enter for it too.

 

The award and other benefits

  • Two-week lights residency at the stage design room
  • Dissemination and logistics support
  • A minimum grant of 800 euros to cover travel costs and expenses that the company or artist may have during the residency
