Collserola parks in Barcelona reopen for non-organised leisure activities

The Government of Catalonia has announced some easing of measures to contain African swine fever in Barcelona and 78 other municipalities deemed as low risk, where the outbreak of the virus is considered under control. The easing of the restrictions allows access to parks that were closed, providing that sports activities and non-organised leisure activities do not involve build-ups of people.

The easing of the measures to contain African swine fever mean the following inter-urban parks with access to Collserola are now open:

  • Parc del Laberint d’Horta
  • Parc de l’Aqüeducte
  • Hort urbà Masia de Can Soler
  • Jardins de Rodrigo Caro

The picnic areas in the upper part of the city are also now open again, located in:

  • Parc del Castell de l’Oreneta
  • Parc de la Pinya
  • Entrance to the Parc del Laberint d’Horta
  • Hort urbà Masia de Can Soler
  • Plaça de Salvador Puig i Antich

Despite the lifting of the prohibition on accessing the natural environment in 79 municipalities in the low-risk area, including Barcelona, people are advised to keep up their guard and avoid contact with wild boar. The following advice still applies:

  • More cleaning of litter bins and waste containers.
  • In cat colonies, place feeders in elevated points and collect the food left over once the cats have fed, keeping it out of reach of wild boar.
  • Warn people that it is prohibited to feed wild boar.
  • If you find a wild boar dead or sick, do not touch it and call 112.
  • Dispose of waste in containers with lids that wild boar cannot access.

The prohibition on access the natural environment is still in place in twelve municipalities deemed as high-risk: Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barberà del Vallès, Badia del Vallès, Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Ripollet, Montcada i Reixac, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Quirze del Vallès, Sabadell, Polinyà, Terrassa and Rubí.
