During a meeting held in Amman on August 26 as part of his institutional trip to the Middle East, the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, signed a declaration of intent with the Mayor of Amman, Yousef Al Shawarbeh, to strengthen collaboration between the two cities.

The mayors emphasized the importance of promoting dialogue and cooperation, and committed to intensifying exchanges in areas of shared interest, some of which have already been addressed by both cities, such as accessibility, sustainable water management, development of green public spaces, urban drainage systems, flood prevention, and development of smart cities.

It is worth noting that Barcelona and Amman have recently worked closely on various projects under a bilateral cooperation agreement that was in effect between 2018 and 2022.
