The new school year is beginning and children's backpacks are filled books. Serveis Editorials is offering to lighten the load with the free download of two online books (available in Catalan and Spanish): 'Barcelona. La meva ciutat' and 'Les escoles de Barcelona dibuixen la ciutat'.
During the last academic year, the book Barcelona. La meva ciutat [Barcelona. My City] was distributed to all public schools and charter schools in Barcelona. An educational book for children aged 10 to 12 that explains what the city is like and talks about the people who live there, a multicultural society made up of people with diverse religions, languages and countries of origin, and also shows, through easy to understand graphs, data on the environment, commerce, popular culture and public transport.
This year, the educational work with schools continues, but this time Barcelona Llibres is launching a digital version of the book in Catalan and Spain. Barcelona. La meva ciutat is also available in the traditional paper format in bookshops.
A travel journal drawn by the city’s children
On the other hand, the travel journal “Les escoles de Barcelona dibuixen la ciutat” [Barelona schools draw the city] is also being turned into an e-book so that all the city’s children can see the drawings of iconic landmarks in Barcelona drawn by their year 5 primary school friends from different schools during the 2021-2022 academic year.
These three publications bring to 68 the number of digital books published by the City Council’s publishing service. All the books are free to download from the web page BCNROC (Barcelona City Council’s digital repository).
