You’ll find a selection of 12 exciting new titles on the Sant Jordi website and all the books for sale in the 2024 catalogue, except those that have been published since the last quarter of 2023.

Barcelona in photographs

Two of the newest titles are on two famous photographers who captured the essence of Barcelona and is main players: Francesc Català-Roca and Pilar Aymerich. Dovetailing with the centennial of the birth of the most important Catalan photographer of the twentieth century, the two-volume set La pell de Barcelona reveals Català-Roca’s brilliance through 200 images. La Barcelona de Pilar Aymerich is a compilation of iconic photographs of the huge feminist demonstrations in the 1970s along with famous portraits of key figures in Catalan culture.

La Barcelona fotografiada de Ginés Cuesta, in turn, revives a unjustifiably forgotten photographer who witnessed the transformation of the Verdun neighbourhood and sought beauty in people and daily life on the streets.

Barcelona in drawings

We are pleased to present the latest three titles that complete the Carnet de Voyage collection: Sketching Barcelona by Lapin, also in Spanish and English; Estimada Collserola by Raul Deamo; and La Verneda de Sant Martí by Daniel Castro. This collection includes a total of 41 titles that portray the city of Barcelona and especially its neighbourhoods.

And for the Barcelona Literària collection, the renowned illustrator Lara Costafreda has drawn the Barcelona experienced and yearned for by the writer Carlos Zanón in Barcelona. Llibre de viatge, a unique, intriguing stroll through the iconic and lesser-known sites in the capital of Catalonia that Costafreda illuminates with a cosmopolitan vision.

Children’s classics and an entire city to discover

In children’s and young reader literature, you’ll find Auca del noi català, antifeixista i humà by Josep Obiols and Pere Català i Pic, Les aventures de l’Editorial Joventut by Mònica Baró and Julià Guillamon and Barcelona, la meva ciutat by Marina Luz Garcia and Neus Camaño.

The Barcelona of artists and curious people

If you come to the Barcelona Llibres stall, you’ll also discover the latest publications on two prominent artists whose birth centennials we celebrated last year: Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Home de la Renaixença. Arquitecte del Modernisme (in Catalan, Spanish and English) by multiple authors, and Picasso-Barcelona. Una cartografia by Claustre Rafart, also in these three languages.

And just like these two geniuses who lived and created some of their greatest works in Barcelona, curiosity has been the spark activating the talent of hundreds of artists, scientists and entrepreneurs who are part of Barcelona’s engine of progress, some of whom are compiled in Barcelona és curiositat by Carlota Rubio and Alfons Cornella.
