Now that the ban imposed through the drought decree on planting in tree beds in Barcelona has been lifted, the procedure for the voluntary planting and maintenance of tree beds in the city has now been reopened. Tree beds are the unpaved spaces found around the base of trees on the city’s streets. When they are used for plants, they add greenery to the streets, increase biodiversity and make the city a more pleasant and welcoming environment.

The campaign ‘Cuida l’escocell’ [Look after a tree bed], which is part of the Mans al Verd programme, enables city residents who make a request to plant and look after up to three tree beds for a minimum period of one year.

In order to do this, you need to make a formal request online or at a Citizen Help and Information Office. In the following video we tell you how to do this.  All the information on planting and watering recommendations can be found in the following tutorial video and in this document.
