The poet and cultural manager Anna Gual (Vilafranca del Penedès, 1986) will take on the position of co-curator of the Barcelona Poesia festival as of the next edition, which will take place from 14 to 21 May 2026. Gual will share responsibilities with the poet Manuel Forcano, who has held this post since 2023, and will replace Maria Callís Cabrera, who has been in charge of the festival for the past four editions.

With a career that combines literary creation and cultural management, Gual has worked in international institutions and festivals, among them the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Bien Urbain Festival in Besançon, the Cinémathèque of Tangier, the Most Festival in Penedès, and the San Sebastián Festival. For the past decade she has been Head of Communications at AECAVA, the association of cava-producing wineries.

As an author, she has published eight books of poetry, and in 2025 Angle Editorial brought out Jo tinc una mort petita, an anthology of Gual’s poems. The new co-curator has received awards such as the Pare Colom, the Bernat Vidal i Tomàs, the Senyoriu Ausiàs March, the Cadaqués to Rosa Leveroni, and the Miquel de Palol. Her work has been translated into several languages and featured in journals such as Harvard Review and Poetry Magazine. She has taken part in literary festivals across Europe and Russia, and her verses have been set to music by artists such as Judit Nedderman, Anaïs Vila and OMAC.

Barcelona Poesia, organised by the Barcelona Institute of Culture. under the umbrella of Barcelona UNESCO City of Literature, transforms the city each spring into a poetic stage with readings, literary walks, performances, conversations and round tables. The festival also includes the awarding of the Jocs Florals prize and the International Poetry Festival at the Palau de la Música.
