Radio Maconda

Ràdio Maconda is a radio project run by Barcelona Libraries. The radio studio is located in the Gabriel García Márquez Library. Regular broadcasts started in February 2023.

Ràdio Maconda, Barcelona Libraries’ community radio station, offers cultural programmes and educational projects.

Ràdio Maconda’s programmes include El Chinchorro, a book recommendation programme specialising in Latin American literature; El repetidor, about cultural current affairs at the libraries and in the city; and Molècules, a popular science podcast. The 2024-2025 season also features the new programme Pèl i Ploma, a podcast that brings together art and literature created by the Catalan National Art Museum (MNAC) and Barcelona Libraries, and the second edition of Interior Maconda, Albert Lladó’s interview show.

In Pèl i Ploma, writers and art experts from the MNAC share their views on some of the works in the Museum’s collection. The regular participants are Pol Guasch, Maria Climent, Jorge Carrión, Raül Garrigasait and Carlota Gurt.

Interior Maconda is a monthly programme, recorded with a live in-studio audience, in which Albert Lladó speaks with leading figures from the worlds of literature, art, science and thought. Previous participants have included Joan-Carles Mèlich, Mercè Ibarz, Frederic Amat, Clara Serra and Tortell Poltrona. In this second season, Lladó will speak with Paula Bonet, Rafael Argullol Murgadas, Brigitte Vasallo, Joan Fontcuberta, Sergio Vila-Sanjuán and Luna Miguel.

Previous guests have included: Elisenda Solsona, Carlota Subirós, Màrius Serra, Cabosanroque, Miquel Cabal, Llucia Ramis, Eduardo Halfon, Alba Pujol, Sergi Pàmies, Lina Meruane, Eduardo Ruiz Sosa, Carlos Zanón, Rosa Ribas, David Guzman, Begoña Gómez Urzaiz, Francesc Casadesús, Claudia Ulloa Donoso, Gustavo Faverón, Gabriela Escobar Dobrzalovski, Javier Pérez Andújar, Gemma López, Inés Macpherson, Artur Estrada, Endika Rey, Alejandro Zambra, Bárbara Lennie, Eduardo Berti, Anna Tarragó, Olga Merino, Miqui Otero, Andrea Genovart and the late Francisco Ibáñez, among others.

You can also listen to these programmes on Ràdio Maconda: Aparador intempestiu, a literary recommendation programme; Invisibles, a programme on unfindable books and small publishers; Planeta B, a space devoted to hidden musical gems, linked to the special collection at the Vapor Vell Library; Local universal, featuring conversations with poets, activists, musicians and journalists from the city; and Tinta a volum, with literary audio clips.

Ràdio Maconda is a participatory space, a Barcelona Libraries open communication tool created by people from the libraries. One of its main goals is to host, support and develop projects for the community, which is why the radio station has worked with schools in the Sant Martí district, holding radio workshops for students. You can listen to the special Aula Maconda programme produced by young people from ten primary and secondary schools.
