The Biblioteca Gabriel García Márquez, a six-floor building with a wooden structure constructed around a triangular yard, is the main library for the district of Sant Martí and the third largest facility in the city’s library network. The library is designed as a place for various experiences, although books are its principal element and are present in all spaces.

Awards. The Gabriel García Márquez Library is the winner of the Best Public Library of 2023 Award from the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and Systematic.
Starting from the imaginary of Gabriel García Márquez, the library aims to make known this immense treasure trove of references, stories, chronicles, poems and reflections which make up the literary canon of Latin America.
In this special collection, you’ll find a selection of Mortadelo y Filemón comics and those about other characters created by Francisco Ibáñez. You’ll also find books about the history of TBO and the Editorial Bruguera.
It strives to collect and disseminate a large part of the memory of the old town of Sant Martí de Provençals and its neighbourhoods, which now form part of the present-day Sant Martí district, with a particular focus on La Verneda in Sant Martí and collective cultural initiatives which are of interest to the community.
This is a platform open to all libraries in Barcelona, where they can showcase their activities and work through programmes that are uploaded to the network in the form of podcasts.
This is a space that favours attention and wellbeing, featuring materials and electronic devices that play with sound, light or vibration. It is an environment designed especially to stimulate the senses.
