History of the shantytowns in Montjuïc: resistance and community

Discover the shantytowns of Montjuïc in first person

On the 16th of November, there is an exceptional opportunity to learn about the history of the shantytowns in Montjuïc from former shanty-dwellers who will share their testimony in first person. In this thematic visit, Francesc Banús, Rafa Usero and Oriol Granados will explain their personal experience and memories of how life was in the shantytowns of Montjuïc and its surroundings.

The visit will begin inside the Castle of Montjuïc with a projection of images selected by the protagonists themselves, which will serve as a starting point for an enriching colloquium full of experiences. During this session, we will get to know first-hand what life was like in the shanties and the challenges and dreams of those people who took part.

Finally, those who wish can join a tour outside the walls to explore some of the landmarks of the shantytowns in the surroundings of the Castle, an option that will allow you to deepen this part of the history of the neighborhood and the city.
