We will discover photobooks with the photographer Julián Barón.
This activity, related to the temporary exhibition “Ressons de la memòria”, is designed for those interested in the preservation of memory, photography and the creation of visual narratives. The activity focuses on the analysis and initiation into the creation of photobooks, as a tool to preserve personal and collective memories.
In the first part of the workshop, a theoretical introduction will be given to explore the role of the photobook as a sentinel of time and its ability to preserve moments and events. Aspects such as photo editing, sequencing and visual narrative will be covered, as well as design and materials to bring the book to life. Emphasis will be placed on the connection between history, collective memory and personal experience.
After the theory, examples of photobooks will be reviewed to inspire participants before moving on to the practical part. In this second part, each participant will have the opportunity to select their own images or stories to work on in their personal photobook, applying design, composition and visual narrative techniques. The workshop is analogue and digital: participants can bring photographs (physical, digital or photocopies), any type of documents, and anything they want to use in their creation. If they do not have photos, the trainer will provide images so that everyone can do the practical exercise.
