Gaudí as a pretext

The Fashion Art Institute by Manuel Fernández, has used the genius of Antoni Gaudí as a pretext to merge fashion, art and architecture. The result is a multidisciplinary collection in which shapes and colours dance in prodigious harmony.

Atypical and unrepeatable, the Catalan architect and his work have served as a source of inspiration for this project in which different artistic disciplines merge. The objective was to create a fashion collection and an on-site and digital exhibition that pays homage to his unique style. This tangible manifestation of the innovative vision and deep spirituality of the Catalan genius is a result of the collaboration between Fashion Art Institute and Gaudí as a pretext.

Fashion, art, technology applied to creation, sustainability and social commitment come together in this exhibition that explores new aesthetic fields and creates an exceptional multidisciplinary experience.

As the great master used to say: "To do things well you need: first, love; second, technique".

His visionary work led to the emergence of his unmistakable double-twisted columns and organic capitals, which inspired Manuel Fernández to create 19 canvas suits. Gaudí himself said, "Originality consists of going back to the origin".

The 19 column suits designed by him have become living canvases for the creative expression of some of the most outstanding young visual artists from all over Spain. One for each community and the two autonomous cities that make up our territory. The creators were selected with the aim of favouring and promoting cultural and gender diversity, in order to foster cooperation and inclusion among the Spanish autonomous communities.

The final result is as disruptive as the visionary architect was at the time. On the eve of the first centenary of his death, the exhibition aims to be a tribute to the magic of his unleashed creativity and genius.  A visionary architect who continues to inspire innovative minds today.
