Alfonso Barguñó Viana (Barcelona, 1980), is a writer and translator of authors such as Joseph Conrad, Flaubert, and Rimbaud, among others. He has published the novel Una història d'Anar Khan (Leteo, 2015) and the essay El Suscitador (H&O, 2020). He also holds a degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature, and DEA in Romance Philology.
The Barcelona native is enjoying an artistic residency at Montjuïc Castle. Taking advantage of his stay in Montjuïc, he has transferred to us the sensations experienced at the site.
Alfonso has highlighted the privileged situation in which the fortification is built, and how, thanks to its views, he has been able to take note of all the contrasts that the city presents: Its perspectives, the coastal facade, the winding orography urban... And also how water plays a predominant role in the configuration of the city, surrounded by two rivers and also in constant contact with the Mediterranean.
He describes the Castle as a privileged space to create, a very positive experience that he will always remember with fondness and excitement. An oasis at the top of the mountain that has given him the calm and inspiration necessary to write his new work.
