Aurelio Major
Aurelio Major, born in Mexico City in 1963. Poet, translator and editor.
He was director of the publishing house affiliated with the magazine Vuelta, chaired by Octavio Paz. He has compiled and edited the works of Eliot Weinberger, Basil Bunting, Tomás Segovia, Ida Vitale, Francisco Ferrer Lerín and Octavio Paz. He is the Spanish translator of the works of Susan Sontag, as well as Charles Tomlinson, Michael Hamburger and George Oppen, among other English-language poets.
His recent translations include Dos escenas americanas (Two American Scenes) by Lydia Davis and Eliot Weinberger (Kriller 71) and the monumental Poesía de la Cábala (The Poetry of Kabbalah) by Peter Cole (Vaso Roto), a project to which he devoted several years.
His most recent poetry collection is Pródromo (Prodrome) (Libros de la Resistencia in Spain and Vaso Roto in America).
