Marcos Morau

Marcos Morau, born in Valencia in 1982, is a choreographer, director and multidisciplinary creator who studied photography, movement and theatre in Barcelona, Valencia and New York. After earning the Institut del Teatre’s award for extraordinary creation, he went on to further his education with a master’s degree in drama theory run jointly by the Institut del Teatre, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).

For more than 10 years now, he has performed all over the world with La Veronal, the theatre company he leads. He has also created pieces for the Royal Danish Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater and the Compañía Nacional de Danza, among others. In 2024, he was selected as an associate artist at the prestigious Staatsballett Berlin, one of the largest ballet companies in Europe.

His stage language is inspired by abstract movement and physical theatre, infused with a powerful body language of his own.

A winner of the Spanish National Dance Award, he combines creation with teaching at institutions such as the Sorbonne Nouvelle and the Institut del Teatre.

His work explores new forms of dialogue between dance, drama and opera.
