Marta Llorente

Marta Llorente, born in Girona in 1957, holds a professional degree and PhD in architecture from the UPC and is a full professor in the ETSAB-UPC’s Department of Architectural Composition, where she also leads reading and writing workshops. Her academic work and research focus on the theory of architecture and the arts, and she created the anthropology and urban space teaching and research programme at the ETSAB. 

She leads cultural studies courses, linking architecture to literature in particular, as part of postgraduate and master’s degree programmes.The author of several books and articles on architectural theory and on women’s specific space, such as Entre naturaleza y arquitectura. El remanso del jardín (Acantilado, 2023) and La ciudad: huellas en el espacio habitado (Acantilado, 2015), she is also involved in related UPC research groups: Art, Aesthetics and the Anthropology of Space and the GIOPACT - Group for Equal Opportunities in Architecture, Science and Technology. She has researched abuse against women in collaboration with the University of Barcelona’s (UB) Faculty of Psychology.
