Cities are undoubtedly the defining space of the 21st century, the result of a historical process that has shaped the urban environment as the place we inhabit, travel through, and experience, even though these rights are not always accessible to the entire population. The forms of the city are not random: they respond to specific objectives and the vision of those who have designed public and private space, reminding us that the right to the city is also a political issue. In a context where public space can be a catalyst for social change towards more fair and equitable societies, fundamental questions arise: How are cities built and from what paradigms? What role does architecture play? What specific steps can cities take? Can we rethink the link between housing and public space?
