Vincenç Altaió is an essayist, cultural researcher, poet, art critic, curator for literary, scientific and artistic exhibitions, theatre translator, avant-garde magazine editor, opinion article writer, cultural agitator and idea trafficker. A keen observer of the changing aesthetics of avant-garde literature and arts, as well as significant contributions to critical thought and the sciences, he has built a deeply personal body of literary work and essays, while at the same time becoming known for various innovative publishing initiatives and cross-disciplinary art exhibitions. He was the director of the KRTU (Culture, Research, Technology, Universals) and Arts Santa Mònica centres and is currently the president of the Joan Brossa Foundation. He played Giacomo Casanova in Albert Serra’s film Història de la meva mort. More recently he published the essay Enllaços amb l’avantguarda: De J.V. Foix a Albert Serra, the twelfth volume of the autobiography with no subject Tràfic d’idees, and two works of cultural research: Joan Miró i els poetes catalans and El radar americà: Arquitectura, art, comunicació visual i Guerra Freda. In poetry, his Biathànatos o l’elogi del suïcidi has been translated into Spanish. His latest works are El somni de la subversió: Memòries d’un traficant d’idees and Joan Vall Karsunke’s film Biblioteca de pedra seca, bringing his personal library to life through performances with artists and writers.
