The emergence of artist publications and independent editions

We will jointly analyse the reasons, contexts and paradigms that have led artist publications and self-publishing to become established as an artistic practice and to expand within the publishing world. The speakers will share their experiences of independent publishing, photobooks and the hybridisation of the visual and publishing disciplines, highlighting the formal freedom and artisanal approach of some projects. They will also reflect on the international dimension of this scene, the role of specialised bookshops and the importance of creating critical and collaborative spaces for the development of new creative practices.
