Vision

The Deputy Mayor's Office for Economy is developing economic policies for the city following sustainable management criteria. We draft the municipal budget proposals and fiscal ordinances and we manage them in accordance with the principles of maximum efficiency and maximum benefit for city residents.

We promote initiatives and projects that drive the innovation of the city’s business sector, help create quality jobs, ensure commercial activity that is integrated into the urban fabric and a tourism sector that benefits city residents. At the same time, we’re working hard to promote the reputation and international positioning of Barcelona to foster the development of all economic sectors, from the production of science and knowledge to the digital transition and the transfer of research to the productive fabric, favouring innovation in the city's economy.

With employment policies aimed at combating inequalities, to enable access to the labour market and guarantee stable and quality employment.
With a sustainable, solvent and financially healthy budgetary policy.
With tax policies that put special emphasis on people with fewer resources, to build a fairer and more redistributive city.

With support for innovative initiatives in the social and cooperative areas, to develop a pluralistic, diverse and regionally balanced economy and to promote a shift to a new economic model that puts the economy at the service of people.
With a commitment to promoting Barcelona internationally in a way that generates opportunities for diversified growth in the various economic sectors and a tourism model based on economic, social, environmental and cultural sustainability.
With the drive to develop a local economy based on a significant commercial fabric and an extensive network of markets, which are one of the city's main assets.
With the drive to bring about the digital transition in the City Council itself and all the city's industries
With a solid plan to promote research, development and innovation
With assistance and information services for city residents that are continually being improved to adapt to people's needs.
