Tax Office
The Barcelona Municipal Tax Office (IMH) is a local autonomous body with its own legal personality whose task is the management, collection and inspection of taxes, public-sector charges, fines and other public revenue levied by the City Council, its autonomous bodies and other public entities.
The Tax Office works ceaselessly to improve the quality of the services it offers city residents, attending to their needs and providing them with the means to fulfil their obligations, while at the same time guaranteeing the exercise of their rights.
The most notable features of its areas of responsibility are its well-prepared members of staff, transparency, clear and concise information about its actions, and ongoing innovation in its operational and management procedures.

-
Automation: This consists of implementing technology (robots) that replicates repetitive processes exactly as a person would do, while avoiding human errors and at a high speed. After having found the pilot test, which began in 2020, to be satisfactory, the IMH is carrying out the automation of different processes This automation project aims to increase the number of actions produced for a task in a given time, thus increasing productivity. In addition, we want to ensure that those who work in different IMH departments have more time for quality tasks that machines are unable to do. This avoids repetitive tasks and complex calibration, with the consequent risk of error.
-
Flat Rate Project: New payment system in 10 instalments per year for natural persons, which incorporates all periodic collection taxes: IBI (property tax), road tax, no parking, occupation of public highway and waste.
-
Simplification and expansion of electronic processing: Modification of the current procedures to make them simpler and more understandable, and creation of new procedures in the City Council’s e-Office.
