Barcelona has adopted a digital transformation model that encourages the use of new technologies in shops, restaurants and bars as a source of opportunities and competitive advantages in today’s ever more digital and omnichannel economic and social environment. The main municipal goals are as follows:

-          Continue improving the level of digital maturity of neighbourhood shops, restaurants and bars to accommodate the increasingly digital needs and habits of consumers in Barcelona.

-          Speed up the digital transformation of neighbourhood shops, restaurants and bars, creating competitive advantages for establishments with an increasingly active presence on the internet and social media.

-          Help establishments to develop their online sales channels and deploy omnichannel business strategies.

Given the municipal interest in supporting this area, a non-competitive call for subsidy applications is being launched for the digital transformation of the city’s shops, restaurants and bars for the year 2022.

The application submission period is from 3 to 30 May 2022, so any application submitted outside that period will not be accepted. Subsidy applications must be submitted online, using Barcelona City Council’s procedures portal.
