'Assajar és de covards' at Tantarantana
Theatre for courageous actors and intrepid audiences
Tantarantana will be making the audience jump on stage for the fifth season with Assajar és de covards (Rehearsing is for cowards). This innovative event plays with stage improvisation, active audience participation and, above all, good humour. The session starts with two dramatic readings from actors who met the director just two hours previously and were given the unpublished works of two playwrights. Sometimes they are joined by stage designers, makeup artists, costume designers and live illustrators. The artistic team is completely different for each session, which means that no two nights are alike.
After a concert performed by a group of musicians, who will also vary, the night reaches its climax. The session concludes with an acting jam session where anyone who wants to participate, whether they have acting experience or not, can get up on stage to read the text they liked the most. After some prior preparation with the director (no longer than ten minutes), these daring actors can head out onto the stage to reinterpret the readings from earlier on.
This show is created and produced by Companyia Casa Real, a resident of Tantarantana through the El Cicló programme, who will act as the masters of ceremonies and run the sessions.
Assajar és de covards will be held on one Monday a month at 21:00 at Teatre Tantarantana (C/ de les flors, 22, Barcelona). The next session will be 23 April. Tickets are priced at €6 and can be booked on the Tantarantana website.
