Collaborations with Biblioteques de Barcelona, a long-standing relationship
The Religious Affairs Office and the Biblioteques de Barcelona have been working together since 2006 to organise activities and present the religious diversity found in the city. These activities have always been designed around a specific theme and have invariably involved the participation of representatives and members of Barcelona’s religious communities.
This collaboration began with the “7 Religions, 7 World Views” series held in 2006 and presented several basic world views supported by religions, to explain the meaning and roles of their practices.
This collaboration has been producing further series of conferences, talks and conversations ever since:
- Religions in Daily Life (2007) highlighted how the deepest held beliefs often affect many aspects of daily life.
- Stories of Religions (2011) showed how all religious and spiritual traditions have developed tales, myths, parables and narratives of every kind to make beliefs, values and spirituality accessible to everyone.
- Music and Religions (2014) explored the role today played by music in the religious practice and spiritual life of Barcelona's various religious communities.
- Women and Religions (2017) proposes discussions between women, from two different religions, on various aspects that shape their spiritual and community lives as well as on their commitment to the world around them.
We at the OAR hope to continue enriching this relationship with the Biblioteques de Barcelona Consortium and thereby give everyone a taste of the daily life of the city’s religious communities.
