Call for subsidies to digitalise the private sector of the visitor economy

Thanks to the Next Generation funds, a call for subsidies has been launched by Barcelona City Council and managed by the Directorate of Tourism, aimed at accelerating the transformation and digitalisation of the private sector that makes up the visitor economy in the city of Barcelona.

This call for subsidies complements the project for digitalisation of the tourism management and promotion of Barcelona, involving the private sector in the digitalisation of the destination.

The main goals include:

  • Strengthening the role of tourism entities and promote public-private collaboration in the promotion and management of tourism.
  • Consolidating digitalisation initiatives in the sector that require significant technical and financial investment.
  • Accelerating the growth of tourism businesses in Barcelona through new technologies and digital transformation.
  • Creating networks and connections between tourism businesses and other sectors to strengthen the tourism value chain.
  • Promoting innovation to improve visitor services and encourage harmonious coexistence with the daily life of local residents.

This line of subsidies aims to support unique projects that prioritise digitalisation and innovation to enrich Barcelona’s tourism sector, increase profit margins and customer satisfaction, and create new business opportunities. The beneficiaries of these grants include tourism business associations in Barcelona, such as hotels, travel agencies, tour guides, transportation, retail, hospitality and the cultural sector.
