Geographical strategy and decentralisation of the tourism offer
The increase in urban tourism has led Barcelona City Council to undertake a series of strategic actions aimed at redefining the city’s tourism model and decentralising the offer of tourist attractions.
Barcelona City Council aims to encourage the geographical decentralisation of tourism activity by adopting a polycentric approach, through the promotion of new imaginaries. Therefore, areas such as the Barcelona coastline near the Fòrum, the areas of the Besòs river and Collserola Park, or Montjuïc mountain offer new places to explore that can attract visitors interested in culture, sports and the natural environment.
