Digital museology at the Casa de l’Aigua in Trinitat Nova

The strategy for geographical diversification of the tourism offer includes a plan to convert the Casa de l’Aigua in Trinitat Nova into a museum.

This project by the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) creates a cultural route called “Camins de l’Aigua” (the water route) which follows the Rec Comtal, passing through locations such as the Casas de l’Aigua in Trinitat Vella and Nova, and connecting with Avinguda Meridiana. This route will explain the history of water in Barcelona, featuring an exhibition that will have both a physical version at the Casas de l’Aigua and a virtual version in an app.

The exhibition on the historical and social use of water will include audio to ensure accessibility and will serve as a resource for both guided tours and self-guided explorations. The virtual version of “Camins de l’Aigua” will offer a dynamic and interactive guide. It will allow visitors to share their testimonies and include expert content, with geolocation to display contextual information at each point along the route.

Additionally, the Casa de l’Aigua in Trinitat Nova will offer an immersive experience with innovative audiovisual installations, turning it into a tourist attraction that will add value to the route. This immersive space will enhance the museological experience by creating an environment that combines technology and history, offering an educational and interactive visit focused on the city’s water heritage.
