Bus Turístic de Barcelona

Touristic mobility

Tourist mobility must be managed as an integral part of Barcelona's increasingly complex and diverse urban mobility patterns. This involves promoting a responsible way of visiting the city that is compatible with everyday mobility, ensuring rational and consistent use of the city's transport systems and public spaces. Volume, intensity and changing dynamics must therefore be taken into account in the management of tourist mobility.

In a densely populated city like Barcelona, where visitor numbers have been rising, we must focus on managing tourist flows and high-influx areas to mitigate the impact of tourism on public spaces and everyday mobility.

Barcelona City Council is taking various steps to minimise the adverse effects of certain tourist mobility activities. The implementation of the Zona Bus 4.0 project thus seeks to restrict, organise and regulate tourist coach stops and parking spaces in the city centre, as well as roll out the new routes approved for the Bus Turístic. This will involve redesigning current routes to reduce the effects of the intense provision of this service in the city centre. This new design will make it possible to introduce new routes closely linked to new tourist attractions that are beneficial to the city, such as cultural venues.
