The Cycling Without Age programme, which promotes active ageing and the good treatment of the elderly by means of bike rides around the city, resumes its face-to-face activities adapting to the new normal

.

These bike rides had to stop due to the Covid-19 crisis but, after the past few months of uncertainty and isolation, the outings with Barcelona’s elderly people are back this summer with all the safety and protection measures recommended by the health authorities.
In addition to restoring people’s access to the outdoors and enabling them to enjoy nature and public spaces once again, these bike rides also bring back friendships between participants while reducing the loneliness suffered by elderly people during the last few months.
Cycling Without Age is a programme to improve elderly people’s quality of life, health and well-being while restoring their ability to ride a bike so they can continue to enjoy the city.
To help the programme achieve this, volunteers give elderly people rides on electric tricycles, facilitating new intergenerational relationships.
