Barcelona leads the debate on private finance for climate transition
On March 27 and 28, the fifth edition of Peer-to-Peer will take place at Ca l'Alier, bringing together representatives from 13 European cities.
On 27 and 28 March, Barcelona will become the European epicentre of the debate on private investment and the climate emergency. This will take place as part of the fifth Peer-to-Peer session, which will bring together representatives from 13 European cities, including Barcelona, Bristol, Dijon, Leuven and Lund, to share experiences, propose solutions and discuss how to attract private investment in climate transition projects.
Organised as part of the Scalable Cities Roadshow, this collaborative space aims to identify innovative strategies for implementing climate projects in urban areas, promoting the green transition through collaborations between administrations, businesses and financial institutions.
This session will bring together local experts, financial sector professionals and investors to provide guidance on how to activate new public-private financing models and attract private sector capital, which is key to bridging the growing financing gap in climate action.
Barcelona: a benchmark in sustainable innovation
Over two days, the event will feature presentations, round tables and workshops with the participation of Barcelona City Council, through the departments of Economy and Economic Promotion, Mobility, Infrastructures and Urban Services, as well as Barcelona Energy/TERSA and Barcelona Activa.
The host city brings its experience as a Lighthouse city in the European Smart City project of the H2020 programme, where smart solutions in energy, infrastructure and transport were implemented. Barcelona is also part of the European Mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030, and of the global network of C40 cities. Among the most notable local actions, Barcelona has promoted the Climate Plan and made a firm commitment to municipal solar power generation.
