Barcelona's green spaces are just a click away!
The Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens has launched a new communication portal with all the content related to the city's parks and gardens, the services available, existing urban flora and fauna and citizen participation programmes and activities, as well as all the work involved in the management and maintenance of urban greenery.
Barcelona has more than six hundred green spaces, essential for improving the quality of life of local residents, and for tackling climate change.
For this reason, Barcelona’s parks and gardens are crucial to the future of the city, so we’re launching our own new website where you’ll find all the information you need.
Parks and gardens and the services they offer
On this website you’ll find all the essential information about the city’s parks and gardens and the services they offer, such as the more than nine hundred children’s play areas and the sports facilities that are available.
You can also check out the rules regarding their use, plus information about other types of green space within the city, like green hubs, green roofs and living walls.
Biodiversity, closer to hand
Trees and plants provide the ideal habitat for a wide variety of fauna, making Barcelona a biodiversity hotspot.
On this new website you can find out about the fauna and flora living and growing close to your home, and the efforts that are being made to conserve and develop it.
How do we manage green spaces?
Looking after parks and gardens is vital to keep them healthy, fit for purpose and looking beautiful.
The website explains how the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens is responsible for the management of environmental resources and the maintenance of all the city’s public green spaces.
It also provides information on what’s being done to grow plants and trees all over the city in a sustainable and ecological way.
Getting local people involved
The contribution by city residents is essential to increase green infrastructure, maintain biodiversity, lower the impact of climate change and guarantee that everyone can enjoy Barcelona’s green spaces.
On the website you can browse the various programmes and activities aimed at all local people, encouraging them to get involved, raising awareness of ‘green culture’ and inviting those who live in Barcelona to do their bit to help build a greener, healthier city.
Nature is right there waiting for you, in every corner of Barcelona. Explore and enjoy all that parks and gardens have to offer at barcelona.cat/espaisverds.
