Eighty projects to improve schools in Barcelona
As ever, the summer break is a time when work is carried out to improve, enlarge and renovate schools in the city, with work ranging from painting and cladding, improvements to school dining-rooms, playground transformations and the construction of new facilities.
The 83 actions being carried out in the summer holidays will help promote local education options to address the needs of each area, working towards equality between schools and educational continuity. Once the work is completed, the groundwork for the map of the city’s schools will be defined.
The work is part of a package of 95 measures for 2024, with an investment of 62,326,354 euros from the Barcelona Education Consortium: 42,868,715 euros from Barcelona City Council and 19,457,639 euros from the Government of Catalonia.
Nine primary schools, seven secondary schools and fourteen all-through schools have been created since the 2016-2017 academic year, with eight state-subsidised private schools also moving into the public system. In addition, seven primary schools and four secondary schools have increased the number of groups in their school years.
