International Library Conference

International Library Conference
31/07/2024 - 14:16 h - Culture and leisure Biblioteques de Barcelona

Various organisations and institutions from the Spanish library sector that are members of the IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) have come together to help organise the International Library Conference.

Seven sections of the IFLA will hold their mid-term meetings during the event and have worked together to prepare two symposiums around the slogan “Culture, knowledge and community”.

The programme for the conference, which is aimed at professionals, includes workshops, roundtables, talks, debates, visits to libraries and the award ceremony for the IFLA/Baker & Taylor award for The Public Library of the Year, which last year went to the Gabriel García Márquez Library, and the Green Library Award.

Distinguished members of the IFLA will be taking part in the conference, along with professionals from various countries around the world, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, and the USA.

Barcelona Libraries are involved in organising the conference, and the Sagrada Família – Josep M. Ainaud de Lasarte and Gabriel García Márquez libraries are two of the venues where it will be held.

Participants will be able to enjoy guided tours of the following city libraries: Sagrada Família – Josep M. Ainaud de Lasarte, Gabriel García Márquez, Jaume Fuster, Collserola – Josep Miracle and Montserrat Abelló.
