The exhibition "Montjuïc 1915, primera mirada. Testimonis d’una transformació" (Montjuïc 1915. A first look. Testimonies of a transformation) was held at the castle from 30 May to 21 September 2014.
Between 1913 and 1930, photographers such as Merletti, Roisin, Sagarra, Brangulí, Godes and Pérez de Rozas continuously and systematically captured the process of urbanization of the mountain leading up to the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition. The result of this innovative project, commissioned by the exposition executive committee, was a huge photographic oeuvre: more than seven thousand pictures counting the glass plate negatives and the positives printed on paper, portraying the transformation of this unusual part of the city. Since 1932, this photographic collection has been stored in the Photographic Archive of Barcelona (AFB) as part of the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition Collection.
The exhibition presents a selection of photographs from this collection that reflects the first period of urban redevelopment between 1915 and 1923.
