Community intervention
The Women's Information and Care Points work at the community level, carrying out awareness-raising activities aimed at the general population, with a special focus on the eradication of gender-based violence and participating in community plans and sectoral networks.
The PIAD's community action has the fundamental objective of contributing to citizen empowerment and strengthening and, at the same time, raising awareness about situations of discrimination that have their origin in inequalities in gender relations (gender-based violence, employment discrimination, unequal reconciliation of personal, family and work life, etc.), as well as making known and visible the knowledge, history of women and their contribution to the history of the city.
Among the actions carried out by the PIAD from a community perspective, we find the following:
- Collaboration with the Districts and with entities and associations in the city in the organization of awareness-raising activities throughout the year, with special emphasis around November 25, International Day against Violence against Women, and March 8, International Women's Day.
- Support and advice to women's groups that are beginning to form a group, whether with the aim of creating an entity, sharing a space or developing a shared initiative.
- Participation in thematic tables (health, elderly, youth, etc.) and community plans with the aim of developing joint strategies for the prevention and awareness of gender-based violence.
