Ethiopia, 1930
Stamp issued to commemorate the crowning of Haile Selassie I as Emperor of Ethiopia. During the rule of the Empress Zauditu (Judith), which lasted from 1917 to 1930, executive power was in the hands of Ras Tafari, who was proclaimed emperor in 1930, and taking on the name of Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia. The title of Ras was the highest in the state hierarchy after that of Negus (monarch).
