Are you tired of only finding bills and junk mail in your letterbox? Then you might be interested in reading this.
Would you like to receive a postcard from a complete stranger from some unknown part of the world? Well, now you can!
Postcrossing is an idea that was created several years ago out of a desire to connect the world, by overcoming ideological borders and physical space. It is a project that is completely free of charge and mostly volunteer-run, with the sole aim of linking up the world through postal correspondence. It might seem a rather naive idea, but statistics show that an increasing number of people want to rediscover this slower, more peaceful form of communication.
If you want to try Postcrossing, first you need to register on its website. Once you have created a user’s account, then you have to mail a postcard to a certain place in the world, wherever you want. And now comes the interesting part – a few days later you will receive a postcard from some other user who has chosen your name.
Some postal services around the world have rewarded this initiative by devoting a stamp to it. The latest institution to do so was the Russian postal service, and this attractive stamp has been used as the main image for this article.
