Expominer and Colecciona Barcelona have been scheduled this week at Fira de Barcelona, in the area of Montjuïc. Both events are a meeting point for collectors and curious visitors interested in coins, posters, medals, stamps, fotographs and of course, minerals and gemstones.
The meeting has been held from the 8th to the 10th November and has welcome a total of 12.000 visitors who have enjoyed the numerous stands, exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
This year the philately and postal thematic have had a special importance in the event. Two customized stamps and a commemorative envelope of the centenary of La Pedrera were introduced, thereby celebrating Antonio Gaudi’s masterpiece. In addition, the Fundació Internacional Josep Carreras against Leukemia has presented a stamp and an envelope to commemorate its 25th anniversary. Half of the benefits obtained from it will be invested in combating this disease.
Expominer has presented a large offer of minerals, but among the particular objects of this year we must highlight some meteorite fragments, one of them from Mars. As a curiosity is worth mentioning the presentation of a Libyan glass located in Sahara and used in ancient times to make arrow tips and charms. Among the scheduled activities those related to the seism occurred on the South coast of Tarragona and connected to the underground store of gas of Castor Company have had a prominent role.
