For the fourth consecutive year, the Ramon Marull Philately Collection has participated in the Exhibition of Educational Activities (PAE – Programa d’Activitats Escolars) that is organised by the Barcelona Pedagogical Coordination Council. Just like every year, Cosmocaixa gathered together educational proposals from nearly 150 cultural and social bodies within the city. The PAE can be defined as a “Plan for the didactic use of the city, which expands the limits of the educational space and turns the city into one big classroom (…) as well as providing more than 4,500 different activities which cover all the educational levels.” This year’s inaugural lecture was given by the philosopher and political scientist Sami Naïr, and titled “Overcoming differences to build a shared city”.
The annual meeting between education officials and teachers has become a platform for dialogue and a meeting point between the pedagogical tasks proposed by the organisations and the actual needs of the schools themselves. Synergies are established, and comments and contributions made which can help to improve the activities, so as to meet pupils’ needs as effectively as possible.
The Gabinet Postal online collection has become an extremely useful educational tool for promoting study in the areas of geography, history, art and politics. This year’s proposal involved developing a subject-based selection of treballs de recerca (school research projects) for secondary school students. The age of colonisation, the Great War and geopolitical changes are just a few examples of the subjects that students can study in the classroom using different types of group dynamics.
