Mercat del Carmel

Història dels mercats
  1. Home

Carmel Market sprang into existence at the end of the 1960s and is one of the eighteen new markets built around that same time in the outskirts of Barcelona.

 

Architecture

Officially opened in 1969, it is representative of the markets built during that period. Its functional architecture consists of a nearly square floor plan and concrete structure.

Year of construction: 1969

Type of building: semi-detached

Total surface area: 10,920 m2

Sales area: 1,276 m2

Alterations: pending renovation. Several alterations were carried out in the 1990s. One of the most important involved the installation of a solar power plant with an output of 43.7 kWp and an annual production of around 55,000 kWh.
