The reform project carried out in 2019 made it possible to expand the volume of the building at the back, as well as the incorporation of a supermarket on the ground floor.
The refurbishment of the facility, which has a structure of exposed concrete, meant gaining permeability and improving the local mobility of the Teixonera neighbourhood residents. In addition, it took into account the demolition of the skylight, as well as the preparation of the roof to accommodate the new management and the gastronomic classroom, one of the new services which it was possible to incorporate.
The most outstanding element of the market is the use of the roof as an urban vegetable garden, with a total of 1,400 m², which is part of the renaturalisation process of the city. It is the largest vegetable garden in the State located on the roof of a building, with 1,750 m2 of cultivation space.
