Public transport. The Metropolitan Transport Authority maintains the discounts for T-usual and T-jove tickets, keeping the 50% reduction introduced in September 2022.

The Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) is maintaining the 50% discounts for T-usual and T-jove tickets introduced in September 2022. The move comes after the Spanish state decided to maintain its 30% discounts for the second half of 2023.

Public transport prices will be maintained for the rest of 2023, extending the discounts applied during the first six months of the year. The discount applies to the most common types of tickets and is applied to the current prices, which have been frozen since 2020.

The Spanish Council of Ministers approved a Royal Decree on 27 June, extending by six months the 30% discount for certain public transport tickets (T-usaul, T-jove). An additional discount of 20% needs to be added to this by the administrations belonging to the ATM, a move agreed by the board on 19 December. These discounts are only guaranteed until the end of the year and may be revised going into 2024.

Pricing will continue to apply as from 1 July 2023 and can be found in this section of the website: tickets and prices.

Expiry of transport tickets from 2022

The range of tickets from 2022 is unchanged, meaning that tickets purchased in 2022 will be valid until 31 December 2023, except for the T-casual which expired on 15 January 2023 as announced. In the case of the T-verda and the T-16, the expiry date of each individual ticket remains unchanged.

T-jove: extended to the under-30s and six zones for the price of one

As from 15 March 2023, the validity of the T-jove ticket has been extended by five years, meaning the pass expires on the day the holder turns thirty. The ATM has also approved a price reduction unifying the prices of the six travel zones and applying the price for a single zone.
