Books. To mark the celebrations of the centenary of Antoni Tàpies’ birth, our booth’s image pays homage to the Barcelona painter.

A year on and Barcelona Llibres will be taking part at the Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse), from 18 to 22 October, to present our publications to the publishing sector from around the world. We will be sharing the booth with the Publishers’ Guild, the Association of Publishers in the Catalan Language (editors.cat), the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises (ICEC), the Catalan government’s Catalan Arts and the Institut Ramon Llull.

To mark the celebration of the centenary of Antoni Tàpies’ birth, our booth’s image at the 75th edition of the Frankfurter Buchmesse pays homage to this universal artist, born on 13 December 1923 in Barcelona. Its vibrant-colour expressionist strokes make the perfect framework for our publishing showcase, where we’ll be displaying the latest publications from Barcelona Llibres, our catalogue and the latest issue of the municipal magazine Barcelona Metròpolis.

Notable new developments include the children’s books Barcelona: La meva ciutatLa ciutat del futur (co-published with Zahorí) and the catalogue Les aventures de l’editorial Joventut, featuring this Catalan publishing house’s hundred years of history, and which we’ll be presenting on Wednesday, 25 October, to mark the exhibition’s official opening with the same title at the Biblioteca Jaume Fuster. And the urban flora and fauna guides, co-published with Cossetània, Els cinemes de la meva vida (co-published with Comanegra), Cohabitatge Barcelona, in English as well, and co-published with ACTAR, 1.322: Una mirada fotogràfica als refugis antiaeris de Barcelona, the biography of a first-rate scientist from our shores, Jordi Sabater Pi. L’últim naturalistaBarcelona, gener de 1939. La caiguda and two catalogues from the Barcelona’s Museu Etnològic i de les Cultures del Món: Kataezome. El llegat artístic de Serizawa Keisuke and Traços, and the latest books from the Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona: Jordi Pol. Entre la multitud and La ciutat davant la càmera.

Frankfurt is the international book fair with the biggest commercial profile. It is where 80% of the world’s copy rights are negotiated. Slovenia is this year’s guest country.
