It is driven and co-led by Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Health Consortium and, since 22 March 2022, the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Equality and Feminism. The active incorporation of the Department into the CVM-BCN seeks to ensure regional equity and has strengthened the three-way leadership alongside the Barcelona Health Consortium (CSB) and Barcelona City Council.  

The purpose of the Barcelona Circuit against Gender Violence is to establish a well-organised system of coordination among stakeholders in the healthcare, social services, police, judicial and educational sectors.  
The Circuit is centred on a multi-causal, comprehensive, cross-cutting vision and understanding of the various kinds of gender-based violence and areas where they are present.

Collaboration among the Circuit’s professionals, across all its constituent bodies, is based on committed, cooperative and coordinated participation that includes teamwork and shared responsibility to address all forms of gender-based violence.  

It is targeted at professionals from services, institutions and organisations that play an active role in preventing and identifying gender violence and helping victims in the recovery and reparation process.
