Miguel Gallardo was one of the best-known artists from the world of Spain’s underground comics in the 1980s. He was also one of the creators of the ingenious and charming Makoki.

One outstanding example from this autobiographical genre is his book María y yo (Maria and me), which deals with the author’s relationship with his daughter. It was adapted for the big screen in 2010, in a film that featured both father and daughter.
