The old Guinardó market belongs to the period of the facilities built in the 1950s. It was inaugurated in 1954.

As in other markets built during the 1950s, its construction replaced an open-air market formerly located on the same site. The structure and closure of the old market, currently being refurbished, were made of concrete.
