Programme
The Portuguese word rente can be translated as “close” or “near,” and this concert offers exactly that: an intimate encounter with the sounds of a Latin America that feels close—tracing its edges and immersing in its textures.
The duo formed by Ana Malta (Brazil) and Oscar Aldama (Paraguay) invites us on a journey through a rich and diverse repertoire focused on Brazilian and Latin American instrumental music, in constant dialogue with different musical languages, timbres, and textures.
Ana Malta’s voice, used instrumentally, unfolds an infinite palette of colors and nuances, weaving a subtle and expressive sonic tapestry with the piano. The program includes genres such as samba, baião, choro, milonga, chacarera, and jazz, through instrumental pieces by Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Lyle Mays, and others.
Ana Malta is a Brazilian singer with an extensive background in instrumental vocal performance and Brazilian instrumental music, with six albums dedicated to the genre.
Oscar Aldama is a Paraguayan pianist trained in both classical and popular traditions, and he has conducted in-depth research into Latin American rhythms and musical aesthetics.
In collaboration with Casa Amèrica Catalunya.
