Screening of “L’encontre de les barcasses al tardet” (2010) by Gerard Gil, with presentation and conversation by Miquel Àngel Marín and Llorenç Barber.
On July 30, 2010, the unique and exceptional meeting between Valencian musicians Carles Santos and Llorenç Barber, masters of musical and sound experimentation in Spain, took place in Deltebre, as part of the Bouesia festival. Each of the musicians set out from a different ferry – one in Sant Jaume and the other in Deltebre – crossing the river and meeting, like the Easter meetings, at the end of the journey. We take the opportunity to project the recording of this poetic action, conceived by Miquel Àngel Marin, and to talk with its creators.
«In 2006, construction began on the new bridge that was to connect Sant Jaume and Deltebre by road, the first bridge in the delta. It was to be inaugurated at the end of 2010 and would mark the end of barges. What is important is the context, what is important is the imagination. I thought of bringing together Carlos Santos (the Virgin) and Llorenç Barber (Jesus Christ), who had never played together before, one on each barge, and with a mystical analogy à la Marius Schneider, representing the Holy Week meeting in the middle of the river, under the gaze of the great bridge under construction.»
