Joguinejant (Playing) with the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya

Native social media projects are initiatives designed specifically for this medium. In 2015 we launched the first of these projects, which would be the seed of a successful model: the annual alternation between projects from the funds of the Museu de la Música exclusively, and projects partnering with another museum with whom to discover collections and new points of connection between the collections.

This first project was #divendresbèsties (beast Fridays) and wanted, every Friday, to publish on the networks images of museum instruments related to the animal world: built from materials of animal origin, or with representations of animals or shapes. The initiative lasted up to more than 70 weeks (and that we only wanted to show those pieces that any visitor could find along the permanent exhibition!). From there, we thought that instead of going alone, we wanted to discover collections from other museums and establish dialogue with them.

An so it was:

  • #DivenDress, a combination of Museu del Disseny clothing linked to musical instruments.
  • #Quenipintat, real instruments from our collections chronologically related to the musical iconography that appears in MNAC works of art.
  • #sOnades, with all kinds of objects related to the sea that form part of the Museu Marítim’s collections.
  • #Joguinejant, with the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya, this year’s project that wants to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this museum with which we collaborate in the CATICAT project and with whom we have established a magnificent relationship.

The last Friday in July will be the end of the game with them, but we want to thank the good disposition from the first day to participate, by Eva Pascual (Head of Collections) and Mavi Carberol (Community Manager), who they have been responsible for selecting all the objects from which we have sought relationships, whether by the type of instrument or, also, by the form. They have gone a step further, each week, illustrating the couples with a video of the selected objects in operation and have also suggested musical themes for each couple.
