New season of activities in the Museum of Music
We start a new season with the challenge of being a reference centre of musical experimentation, a space for sharing, exchange and dialogue. The offer we present is plural and diverse, and aims to convey the aesthetic emotion of music and instruments.
Temporary exhibitions
GU-INNO-VART
Until the 7th of October 2018
One of the references of Josep Guinovart was music, a hobby we clearly see in his works. In this show, we take a tour of the different musical styles that inspired a good part of the artist's work.
The guitars of Quico Pi de la Serra
From the 18th of October 18, 2018 to the 28th of April 28, 2019
The magnificent collection of guitars that Quico Pi de la Serra, one of the most important musicians in the country's sound and collective history, has been compiling by several continents during his vital career. Objects all of them intimately linked to their musical work and to their artistic and life experience.
Live music Concerts with original instruments.
One of the distinguishing features of the Barcelona Museum of Music - and quite unusual in the sector - is the condition of musical use of some of its instruments. The cycle of concerts The Music of the Museum will bring prominent performers, such as Michael Tsalka, Fahmi Alqhai, Frederick Munk, Mark Kroll, Isaac Rodríguez, Alba Ventura and Adriana Alcaide, who will play emblematic pieces of the collection; Pérez Molero & Friends will invite specialized interpreters to sound the baroque organ of the collection; and in the Silenci program, students from higher music centers will share their approach to heritage with the audience that visits the Museum.
Conversations and musical dialogues
Musical instruments in study, a series of conferences around the collections of the Museum and the latest research, available to everyone. Luthiers and specialized researchers will give us first-hand information about their studies and discoveries.
Activities for all audiences
The educational program of the Museum consolidates the offer of school and family activities on Saturdays in the morning and Sundays in the afternoon from October to May. The Museum continues to articulate workshops of Gamelan for groups of adults, groups at risk of social exclusion in collaboration with the Apropa Cultura program and school and family groups. The stable group Gamelan Penempaan Guntur will also offer a winter concert. Every Sunday of the year at 11 am the Museum offers a themed guided tour included in the price of the entrance.
Installations and interactions
In collaboration with the Sampler Series of L'Auditori the artist Jürg Frey will present a sound installation in the permanent exhibition of the Museum. The tour also allows visitors to interact with various real instruments and has a device that offers content around the world of the guitar.
So we invite you to enjoy with us these musical proposals and experiences with the desire to awake you with new sensations and fill you with knowledge.
